PURAGLOBE Sustainable Engine Oils Now in Tampa, FL
Wayne, PA (USA)—On March 19, 2020, PURAGLOBE received its first delivery of sustainable SYNTAINICS® base oil at its new facility in the Port of Tampa in Tampa, FL.
The tanker ship Ebony Ray arrived from Europe to deliver sustainable base oil re-engineered from used oil at PURAGLOBE’s refineries in Germany. After completing all environmental safety procedures, the sustainable base oil was transferred from the ship to PURAGLOBE’s holding tanks on land.

PURAGLOBE’s SYNTAINICS® base oil—the only advanced Group III base oil in the world re-engineered from used oil proven to help reduce CO2 emissions—will then be used to make various engine oils for PURAGLOBE’s clients in the United States and North America.
PURAGLOBE President & CEO Andreas Schueppel explained, “It’s a proud moment for all of us at PURAGLOBE—some of us have been working for nearly 20 years to make this happen.”
PURAGLOBE began developing its exclusive technology to transform used oil into advanced, new oil using Honeywell UOP HyLube™ and HyLubeSAT™ technologies in the early 2000s. The company has since developed its own proprietary technologies as well to help re-engineeer used oil into advanced base oil products while helping to reduce CO2 emissions and promote Zero-Waste Refining.

The state-of-the-art Tampa facility is where PURAGLOBE manufacturers advanced, sustainable engine oils for its customers. These low-viscosity engine oils enable PURAGLOBE to manufacture engine oils that provide outstanding fuel-efficiency, but eco-efficiency as well.
After overcoming several development obstacles, production at PURAGLOBE’s Port of Tampa facility is finally underway. In addition to advanced blending and high-speed bottling capabilities, the Tampa facility is also a logistics hub from where PURAGLOBE can blend and package engine oils for its customers—and deliver them by ship, train, or truck throughout North America.
President & CEO Andreas Schueppel also explained how the facility, which will soon have its own used oil and refining capabilities, is “really a blueprint for market transformation in the United States. We’re replicating the same high-efficient, sustainable re-engineering and refining we’ve developed in Germany, here in the U.S. And we couldn’t be more excited to begin production—and begin transforming the Tampa regional market with sustainable, eco-friendly operations.”
